Campus Security, located in Franta Hall, operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
Partnered with Rave Mobile Safety, GBC provides a messaging system for emergency notifications and updates through text messaging and email.
All students, faculty, and staff are automatically enrolled for emergency notifications with their GBC Email addresses and mobile phone numbers on record. Users may add additional emails and mobile phone numbers or opt out of text messages at go.gbc.edu/alerts (located on the Campus Safety tab of Campus Web). The system allows for three email addresses and three mobile phone numbers. Standard text messaging fees may be charged by the users service provider and are the responsibility of the user.

Security cameras are installed throughout campus to enhance student safety, including in the hallways, at entrance and exit points, and around the exterior of all College buildings. Additional information pertaining to security may be obtained through the Student Affairs Office at (302) 225-6332.

Traffic gates are located on the north side of campus off Stoney Batter Road. The gate at the service road is used to control traffic and to enhance the safety and security of campus during evening hours. To provide additional safety for pedestrians on campus, the side entrance traffic gate is closed at all times, except for times when access is needed for important College events or for emergencies. The Main Entrance at the intersection of Limestone Road and New Linden Hill Road is open at all times. To meet the needs of the College campus, campus access may be adjusted from time to time.
The following outlines some precautionary measures recommended by Campus Security to prevent crime:
Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 provides that: “No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.” 20 U.S.C. § 1681 and 34 C.F.R. Part 106 (1972).
