Goldey-Beacom College’s Romano and Lockwood Honored by DAWN

 

Wilmington, DE – Goldey-Beacom College (GBC) congratulates two outstanding employees who were honored on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, by the Delaware ACE (American Council on Education) Women’s Network (DAWN) at their Annual Awards Dinner held at Delaware Technical Community College, Stanton Campus.

2024 Leadership Award Winner, Megan Romano

 

Romano currently serves as the director of counseling for the Mental Health and Wellness Center where she leads efforts to provide holistic mental health services to students. In her role, Megan is deeply committed to fostering a supportive environment where students feel empowered to address their mental health needs with confidence and care. Her approach is centered around building trust, offering practical tools, and helping students tap into their inner resilience.

 

Romano’s expertise spans trauma-informed care, crisis intervention and addiction counseling as a Licensed Professional Counselor with certifications in EMDR and advanced alcohol and drug counseling. Passionate about shaping the future of the counseling field, Romano also teaches in the College’s master’s program, guiding the next generation of mental health professionals.

 

Additionally, she has served as a subject matter expert for the National Counseling Exam, furthering her impact on counselor education and certification. Currently, she is pursuing her MBA in Healthcare Administration at GBC, further enhancing her ability to bridge the gap between mental health services and organizational leadership.

 

In 2021, GBC established the Mental Health and Wellness Center as part of the College’s strategic initiative with Romano as the director of counseling.  When she’s not advocating for student wellness, Romano enjoys spending time outdoors with her dogs and relaxing at the Delaware beaches with her family.

 

2024 Rising Star Award Winner, Zoë Lockwood

 

Lockwood is an accounting generalist at Goldey-Beacom College. She specializes in maintaining student account accuracy and upholding the college’s general ledger. Lockwood is responsible for educating employees on business office finance processes and procedures. She is a powerful force in the workplace and uses her cheerful outlook to encourage others to thrive, with a key focus on aiding as many students as possible. Lockwood’s core inspiration is her parents, Tonya and Chuck, as they are the definition of hard work pays off. In her free time, she is an avid reader, loves to watch sporting events and spend time with her family and friends. Lockwood holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration ’21 and a Master of Science in Business Administration ’23, both from GBC.

Founded in 1886, Goldey-Beacom College has approximately 1,300 students enrolled from 29 states and 65 nations. The College offers 48 degree options in its graduate and undergraduate programs with majors in psychology, economics, criminal justice, communication & media, human services, English, and all areas of business, including accounting, business administration, entrepreneurship and finance. Additionally, the College offers 21 certificate programs.

 

The College began accepting students into three new degree programs in fall 2023: Bachelor of Science in Digital Marketing, and two concentrations in the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration program: Cybersecurity and Esports & Gaming Administration. Also offered in fall 2023 are stackable new macro and micro graduate certificate programs.

 

The College is committed to connecting its graduates with careers in their respective fields. For over a decade, the College has achieved a 90% placement rate for graduates. Goldey-Beacom College is located in Pike Creek Valley, a suburb of Wilmington, Delaware.
