Goldey-Beacom College to Host Esports Open House for

High School Students

 

Wilmington, DE – The Goldey-Beacom College (GBC) Department of Athletics will host an Esports Open House on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. in the newly constructed Esports Center located in the Jones Center on the GBC campus, 4701 Limestone Road in Pike Creek.

 

All high school students, as well as members of the community, are invited to check out the Esports Center and meet Coach David Lawrie. Coach Lawrie, a former professional Rocket League player, is hot on the recruiting trail looking for members of the first class of Lightning esports.

 

During your visit, take a tour, meet the coach, and join in for a hands-on experience to play your favorite games.

 

Over the past year, the College has made a significant investment in the creation of a state-of-the-art arena to attract high quality gamers of all titles as well as to serve as a recreational space for students not competing on the esports team who would still like to game.

 

Founded in 1886, Goldey-Beacom College has approximately 1,300 students enrolled from 29 states and 65 nations. The College offers 48 degree options in its graduate and undergraduate programs with majors in psychology, economics, criminal justice, communication & media, human services, English, and all areas of business, including accounting, business administration, entrepreneurship and finance. Additionally, the College offers 13 certificate programs.

 

 

The College began accepting students into two new degree programs in fall 2022: B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies; B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Business Analytics. Also in fall 2022, the College began offering five new undergraduate certificate programs including marketing, human resource management, health care management, entrepreneurship and information technology.

 

The College began accepting students into three new degree programs in fall 2023: Bachelor of Science in Digital Marketing, and two concentrations in the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration program: Cybersecurity and Esports & Gaming Administration. Also offered in fall 2023 are stackable new macro and micro graduate certificate programs.

 

The College is committed to connecting its graduates with careers in their respective fields. For over a decade, the College has achieved a 90% placement rate for graduates. Goldey-Beacom College is located in Pike Creek Valley, a suburb of Wilmington, Delaware. The College is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs.
