Wilmington, DE – Goldey-Beacom College (GBC), for the second consecutive year, has been ranked in the top 20% of the Economic Mobility Index (EMI) for colleges and universities by Washington, DC think tank – Third Way. GBC is the only Institution of Higher Education (IHE) in Delaware to achieve a Tier 1 ranking.
Dr. Colleen Perry Keith, president of GBC, said, “The data show Goldey-Beacom’s EMI ranking at 24.7% with a 3.36 price-to-earnings premium (PEP) for low-income students: years to pay down total net cost. This is significant considering we have 64% of students in the low-income PEP percentile rank. Forty percent of all undergraduate students received a Pell grant in 2021-22 of which 38.6% were full-time students.”
Third Way’s ranking of Delaware IHEs:
Third Way states that, “Over one-third of the 281 institutions in the top 20% of schools on their Economic Mobility Index are Hispanic-serving institutions, a federal designation for schools with an undergraduate enrollment of at least 25% Hispanic students.”
“Goldey-Beacom has long been a majority-minority serving institution and has focused on serving students of traditionally underrepresented backgrounds,” Dr. Keith continued. “I am proud to say that in March 2023, GBC was named an Emerging Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) by the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU). Our trajectory shows that we are on track to attain HSI status in the near future and to secure our seat among Minority Serving Institutions (MSI) as well.”
